[6] Action for Violet/Everywhere [Fourth Wall Event]

[Blake is in his apartment minding his own business when there's a flash of light.]

When it fades, nothing seems different for a minute. All's normal and as it should be, everything in its place. After a second, it sinks in. There's something that's been out of place for months, and all of a sudden the feeling of nakedness is gone.]

[He pats his side, and there's the good, reassuring weight of his gun, right where it should be. He takes it out to give it a look over, and it's exactly as he remembers it. He puts it back and feels more himself than he has since he got to this damn place.]

[That's when he notices there's a lot of strange noises outside.]

[Blake opens the door and steps out.]

[He takes a good look at around.]

[He thinks it over.]

Nope.

[He turns around to go back inside.]

[He huffed a soft breath, then shook his head.]

I'm not where I was, but I wouldn't call that lost. Where is here?

[For a second, Blake looks almost sympathetic.] None of us are.

A long, long way from the real world. Talking specifics, this town's Violet, if that helps.

[one shoulder comes up, and he adds honestly] I know that doesn't help.

So not Konoha... and not Michi. [He huffed a sharp little breath.] Alright then. Your name?

[Blake doesn't know what either of those are, but it's safe to say] Nope.

[The kid doesn't take it too badly.]

I'm Lieutenant Blake. [He nods to the Snubbull who's coming out of the door behind him.] That's Steve Buscemi.

[He looked to the dog and gave it a grave nod as though it were any other person.]

Uchiha Itachi. [He looked back to him and tilted his head.] Blake-san.

[Steve nods back with impeccable manners.]

All right, Oochyha. You here on your own?

Uchiha is my family name. You can call me Itachi, and yes. [And maybe you won't horrifically butcher it.]

Then what'd you say it backwards for?

[Blake is not terribly culturally aware.]

Hell. Sounds like the usual everyday kidnappings are picking up pace.

That's how it's said where I'm from. [Deciding not to even try to explain it to this guy, yep.]

So are you saying you kidnapped me?

Hell no! I'm a cop.

[Those things are mutually exclusive. They are.]

It's somebody else who yanks us here. Nobody knows who or why.

[And that never stops pissing him off.]

Then I wasn't kidnapped so much as I was transported. I've been kidnapped, it's a very different thing. [He gave a firm little nod.]

[Carter sighs.] You and every other kid here. I shouldn't be surprised by now.

Where're you from? Who kidnapped you before?

I'm from Konohagakure, and more recently from Michi no Sato, and the first time it was Iwa-nin, the second time it was on a mission and I was unconscious but I understand it was a band of unaffiliated nin.

[What begins as listening soon turns into a blank stare.]

[He huffed a breath.]

Less complicated words then. Leaf village. Kidnappers were enemy ninja. Better?

You should be all right now. Well, that's usually, who the hell knows what's going on today. Usually the routine is you show up and you get some kinda mutant animal.

Why wouldn't I be alright? That was months and years ago. [He stared at him.] They didn't succeed.

And I have no animal.

Christ, how many times can a kid get kidnapped before fifth grade? What are you, seven? Good thing you had somebody to rescue you.

That's weird. [Blake could never have foreseen a time when not having a plant or a reptile or something at your heels would be the strange thing.] Everybody gets one. They look out for you.

Tell you what. You can borrow one of mine until you catch your own.

I'm eight, and I don't need one if I'm not actually going into combat. [He paused, flustering slightly.]

I've learned from my mistakes, really.

Eight years old and not going into combat. In a sane world that wouldn't be a surprise.

[Carter's relieved to hear it.]

How many mistakes can you have? You've barely had a chance to make any. Wait til you're my age, then you can talk about mistakes.

My teammate died in front of me a few months ago because I couldn't get him past his jealousy of my skills. [He peered up into his face, solemn.]

That was a mistake and a regret.

[Carter's eyes bug out.]

Jesus Christ. You say that like some kids say "I just had a juice box."

[Something about the way he says it makes Blake not even consider he's not telling the truth.]

...I would have really really rathered I had a juice box actually.

[He shook his head a little.]

So would everybody!

Jesus Christ, where are you kids coming from?

I'm from Konoha. [He blinked up at him and gave him a wry smile.]
