[Blake is in his apartment minding his own business when there's a flash of light.]

When it fades, nothing seems different for a minute. All's normal and as it should be, everything in its place. After a second, it sinks in. There's something that's been out of place for months, and all of a sudden the feeling of nakedness is gone.]

[He pats his side, and there's the good, reassuring weight of his gun, right where it should be. He takes it out to give it a look over, and it's exactly as he remembers it. He puts it back and feels more himself than he has since he got to this damn place.]

[That's when he notices there's a lot of strange noises outside.]

[Blake opens the door and steps out.]

[He takes a good look at around.]

[He thinks it over.]

[He turns around to go back inside.]

That's weird. [Blake could never have foreseen a time when not having a plant or a reptile or something at your heels would be the strange thing.] Everybody gets one. They look out for you.

[Carter's relieved to hear it.]

[He shook his head a little.]

You knew Obito-nii? [His eyes widened, and he promptly moved forward a couple steps, staring up at him.] When did you meet him? How? I didn't know he was friends with any civilians outside the village before he died!

[It's a new experience to get the third degree from an 8-year-old who doesn't blink enough.]

Yeah, that guy. Don't know anything about his knees, though.

I ran into him here a while back, he-- hey, wait a minute.

[He crosses his arms.] I'm a cop, not a civilian, and he's not dead.

[His eyes spun into crimson and he looked the man over top to bottom, clearly evaluating him. When he finished, he blinked them away.]

You're built like a civilian. You might be a civilian combatant of some sort, but that's still a civilian. And... Obito-nii died four years ago, I remember the funeral and everything.

[Blake barely hears him. His attention was all caught up by the kid's eyes.]

[He quickly realized where he was staring.] My Sharingan.

What the hell is a sharing hand and why is it in your eye?!

The kid's not dead, I talked to him the other day!

[Blake's capacity for crazy bullshit is being exceeded real hard right now and his head is creaking under the strain]

Sharingan, and it's a bloodline thing. [He huffed a breath.]
