[6] Action for Violet/Everywhere [Fourth Wall Event]

[Blake is in his apartment minding his own business when there's a flash of light.]

When it fades, nothing seems different for a minute. All's normal and as it should be, everything in its place. After a second, it sinks in. There's something that's been out of place for months, and all of a sudden the feeling of nakedness is gone.]

[He pats his side, and there's the good, reassuring weight of his gun, right where it should be. He takes it out to give it a look over, and it's exactly as he remembers it. He puts it back and feels more himself than he has since he got to this damn place.]

[That's when he notices there's a lot of strange noises outside.]

[Blake opens the door and steps out.]

[He takes a good look at around.]

[He thinks it over.]

Nope.

[He turns around to go back inside.]

Shinnow...yeah, I've heard that before. [the headband is familiar too.] Like that kid with the goggles, Obby-toe.

Jesus Christ, you too? [He'd been getting the idea the kid was far from normal, but god damn.] It is soldiers from goddamn gradeschool.

[Blake groans] Getting roofied by radishes would be the normallest fucking thing to happen today.

[Carter is about to spit some denial in his face.]

[He stops. The fight slowly goes out of his stance. He thinks, and lets out a long, long sigh.]

We're not all ninjas, buddy.

[He's dizzy enough to begin with.]

Maybe...maybe not can't.

[Even after seeing it for himself, it takes effort to make that admission]

[He's just gonna hold on to this rock for a while. It can't think, right? Right?]

Shouldn't.

It sounds better by the second. Come on, there has to be a bar or a convenience store out there that still has a cashier at work...

[He takes out one of his pokéballs, and out comes a Staraptor.]

...And as long as it exists, Princess can definitely find it.

No, of course not. And I won't deny that my training is probably a big factor in why I'm able to stay calm.

But given the situation and the unknown abilities of the people around us, I think approaching it calmly is a better course of action. Most of the people around us... they've become friends, comrades, during our time spent here. That didn't change just because they can now do something we might not understand.

You knew Obito-nii? [His eyes widened, and he promptly moved forward a couple steps, staring up at him.] When did you meet him? How? I didn't know he was friends with any civilians outside the village before he died!

That's what I figured. [Adults. They really are all the same.]

Here. Catch. [He tosses the snowball he's been holding in Blake's direction. It'll be an easy catch, if he even tries. It's ~magic~, though, so who knows if he'll even want to. The thing will melt, if slightly more slowly than normal snow, but it's filled with the magic of fun and childhood, so... who knows... Blake might have to admit he was a kid once or something.]

Not if you handle it properly and employ proper means to protect yourself. Honestly, as long as I don't ingest it, I'll be perfectly fine. Anyway, I mostly adjusted the surface tension... I'm sure you're familiar with how water forms relatively spherical droplets on the right surfaces, correct? It's something like that, only with a different kind of liquid.

[No, no the rock can't think.]

[And Apollo's confused again.]

[Blake's hand comes up on reflex]

[The snowball thuds into his palm. It feels like a regular old snowball, though a lot less prone to falling apart and not lumpy and asymmetrical like they usually turn out.]

[Experimentally, he tosses it in the air a couple times. The deeply-ingrained scowl lines on his face fade a little.]

Huh. I haven't chucked one of these around since I was a kid.

[he shoots a glare at Jack]

I don't wanna hear a word about how long ago that must've been.

[He rubs his head and feels very, very old.]

[Blake looks around. He pats his pockets until he finds a pen.]

[He comes a little closer and uses it to poke the thing.]

[It's a new experience to get the third degree from an 8-year-old who doesn't blink enough.]

Yeah, that guy. Don't know anything about his knees, though.

I ran into him here a while back, he-- hey, wait a minute.

[He crosses his arms.] I'm a cop, not a civilian, and he's not dead.

[His eyes spun into crimson and he looked the man over top to bottom, clearly evaluating him. When he finished, he blinked them away.]

You're built like a civilian. You might be a civilian combatant of some sort, but that's still a civilian. And... Obito-nii died four years ago, I remember the funeral and everything.

[His laugh was just as brief, but genuine. Sure he'd seen some weird shit... a giant chakra fox rampaging his village, the death god, hell their moon was created to house the body of another chakra demon thing. Probably not the best time to bring all that up though.]

Now see, the things you've seen would be a little weird to me. I guess they're not really comparable but...

[He understood the "knifing" part, at least.]

It's not so bad though, is it? I'm kind of interested in hearing everyone explain their abilities myself.

[Jack's grin says maybe, just maybe, Blake's starting to get the idea.]

[He tosses the snowball in the air.]

[And wings it at him]

[Blake barely hears him. His attention was all caught up by the kid's eyes.]

What the fuck was that?!

Dastardly I can deal with. I get a lot of dastardly.

[Okay. He can't handle this. Just don't scream or gibber or anything stupid. Just don't think about it too much.]

Now. Assuming you're real- [holds up his hand] - and I'm not saying you are - aren't you things only supposed to show up around virgins?

[You know what's a good time to bring that all up? Never. Never would be great.]

Yeah, but nothing from my world warped into your living room.

There's supposed to be things you can rely on. What've you got if you don't even know where you stand?

[Anybody else Blake would think was fucking with him, but he knows this kid is genuinely asking.]

[He has to work his way around the walls made by the...giant robot's...legs. He tries to think of them as just walls.]

You just gonna...leave this thing sitting out here? [Biting back a sudden hysterical urge to laugh] You'd better lock it. The neighborhood's gone to hell lately.

[Despite everything, Blake gives Ash a look when he pulls out the pokemon.]

[Wait, wait, hold up.]

Humans cut trees down to make things!? They don't just use the dead wood that falls!?

[He's only ever had to deal with poachers. Loggers have never shown up.]
