[Jail is fucking boring.]

[They'd stuck Blake in a cell for a while until they figured out something about community service. It was a lot faster than back in the real world, but even crazy bullshit island has red tape. Blake's not sure whether that's nostalgic or not.]

[Cells are the same everywhere, too. He's never been on this side before. The novelty wears off fast.]

[He wishes he had a ball to bounce against the wall or something. They didn't even leave him any of his animals for company. Maybe that's a good thing. He doesn't know how he's going to explain this to Steve.]

[There's nothing but a book, and there's only so much anybody can take of The Dratini Code.]

[Blake leans back on the hard bunk and tosses his phone in one hand. When he got in here the one thing he was sure of was that he didn't want to talk to anybody, but nothing weakens that conviction like a couple hours alone with the hot, uneasy feeling in the back of his head.]

[He flips the phone open before he can think about it too much and says the first thing that comes to mind.]

[The face that comes up on the screen will look a lot less combative and more withdrawn than usual.]

You think they have the Shawshank Redemption around here?

Maybe with one of those stupid puns in the title, and he digs his way out with one of those mole things. A little tiny one for finding rocks.

Seems like everything around here is like back home but turned the local kind of stupid. Do they even make any real original movies?

[In the crappy florescent lights shared by jails everywhere, the lines on his face look deep and weathered.]

I'm tired of nothing but the same old thing.

((OOC: Open for calls and visitors! Blake's in jail for punching Parker, but you don't have to broach the topic if you don't want to. He's not real proud of himself, so he'll pussyfoot around it unless asked directly. If you definitely don't want it to come up, just put in an OOC note.))

[Lee's not even thinking of cop vs civilian. It's funny, you always think "seeing red" was just an expression, but talking about bullets to the head and hitting women takes him right back to the side of that rural Georgia road, the flash and bang of the gun, the way Carley crumpled to the ground in a heap, one second there and the next gone.

And something snapped in Lee when he saw the smoking gun in Lilly's hand - he could have hit her, he could have killed her as easily as he later would kill the Stranger. But even when he was madder than he had been, his focus wasn't on hurting her, it was on keeping her from hurting anyone else. He remembered how small her wrists felt under his palms, how she looked like the scared little girl Carley had just called her out as, remembered taking the gun when she dropped it and telling her to get back in the RV.

So yeah - if you're close enough to throw a punch, you're close enough to disarm.

Lee doesn't speak the whole time he's remembering this. He hardly can - Carley's last moments still weigh on his shoulders heavy with guilt - he should have seen the gun, he should have gotten it from Lilly before... He takes a long drink of his beer and heaves a heavy sigh.]

Back where I come from, it's not the dead you really gotta watch out for - they're there, yeah, but they're stupid and slow. When it's all said and done, the living are the real monsters. Just 'cause I'm not a cop doesn't mean I haven't seen a lot of fucked up shit.

[Reticent as you were to believe him before, there he goes again - and his tone is plain worn out, his posture defeated, because Clementine's back in that world alone, and even if Lee wasn't stuck here he wouldn't be able to be there with her.]

Yeah. My little girl's ribbon. All I wanted to know was where she got it.

She's not happy about the whole thing.

[He tugs his sleeve up and shows the bite mark on his forearm to the camera.]

Doesn't wanna talk about it, either.

Good, because you'd loose more teeth that way. [That flew over her head. As for the clone officer, that cut visiting hours short.]

Alright missy, time to go.

[Course with Pinkie being more persistent, the Jenny had to toss her out the door, literally.]

Its half-assed excuse for one. They don't even do trials.

[Not that Blake ever had much use for them, but they have to be there, dammit.]

[He had a hunch and coincidence! Those are kinds of evidence.]

She had something that belonged to her and wouldn't tell me where she got it.

Then she kicked me in the balls.

[He sounds like he has.]

[Blake takes the cards and fans them out, barely seeing them. His hands are on autopilot.]

[If somebody hurt Jayden he wouldn't give a damn, maybe shake their hand, but other partners he's had...]

[Yeah, he'd go out swinging for revenge.]

[There's only one thing to ask.]

Is he dead?

[When Blake glances up at Lee, his face says he's got a long story too.]

Right, the zombies.

[It doesn't come out sarcastic. There's a lot of weird shit out there, and while Blake isn't entirely convinced there's such thing, there's no way to say for a fact that there isn't. And if there was, now's not the time.]

[Have all the zombies you want, Lee.]

Yeah. I know plenty about that kind of monster. Living dead'd just bring them out of the woodwork.

[The way Lee says what he's seen couldn't be farther from bragging.]

[It seems like a good time to finish off that beer in one long guzzle.]

Oh no...

[That's...it's really distressing, isn't it?]

M-maybe she might need some time? And then she'll listen?

Speaking of that, people don't die here. It seems like they do then time distorts, resetting them which isn't supposed to happen. Time is a fickle thing.

That's not how it goes. _{[She's actually a little personally offended-- though of course she can't say WHY. Even if Blake wasn't a policeman, admitting that you've started shoplifting (again) isn't exactly something that Heather wants getting out.]

[But there's such a colossal difference between pinching trinkets off of shelves (or from pockets) and kidnapping a little girl!]}

You're a big guy, couldn't you have just, you know, GRABBED her? You had to throw punches?

[Lee looks up at Carter with a weary (and wary) expression.]

Yeah. The walkers. Zombies. Geeks. Whatever you wanna call 'em.

[He's glad Carter's not trying to call bullshit - Lee ain't in the mood.]

Like you wouldn't believe. People'll do anything when they think the world is over.

[He's gonna follow your lead and finish his beer - suddenly, it tastes more bitter than before.]

It implies that this world is too peaceful to hold such things. On the other hand, that's an oversight. Foreigners like us could come in a variety of dangers, and walk away with a slap on the wrist.

[ Even she realizes it's too much of a lenient system. ]

Yeah. That's the best plan I've got.

[He pulls his sleeve back down.]

How've you been doing? Getting the hang of this dogfighting thing?

[It's not easy to imagine this girl fighting anything, even by magic animal proxy.]

[He'd rather not call them anything, but Lee's a level-headed guy. If he was going to make something up it'd be more believable.]

[He snorts humorlessly.] Tell me about it. Even just the idiots who think the Apocalypse is coming get up to some crazy shit.

Hell, I'm shocked nobody here is calling this place the weird-ass wrath of God.

[It takes Blake a second to get what she's talking about. Then he groans.]

I don't know what you've been stuffing up your nose, kid, but it's time to quit.

[And now those clone police are at least a little redeemed in Blake's eyes.]

[He watches pink paint drip down a bar and mutters to himself.] Damn horses.

[Yeah Lee's not much of a practical joker. Well, he could be, but this wasn't something he had much of a sense of humor for.]

Frankly, I think it's because this place doesn't seem very wrathful. As far as apocalypses are concerned, this ain't shit.

[Was that a little bit of a joke? Yes it was.]

[Because if it was before, he can kinda understand the impulse, being a guy and all.]

I tried to take him down myself the first time.

Learned a tough lesson.

You like to think that, but then you see the same guys brought in over and over. A lot of the time, after they get out, somebody gets hurt.

I tried that! She tried to break my fingers and kicked me in the balls. Was I supposed to just stand there and take it just because it was a woman? No, you hit me, I hit back.

[the anger and conviction in his voice drop down a little. Seeing the lady go flying..he couldn't say he really felt good about that.] It wasn't that bad. Barely slowed her down.

That's what I've heard, minus the time travel crap. I'm not gonna run off a cliff to try it out.

[Blake has a hand full of nothing, but he meets him. Bluffing's not hard when you're too busy thinking of something else for it to register in your head or on your face.]

To make the future less lousy. I think his standards slipped a little at some point.

[Though he did have a hot, not green-skinned wife, too.]

Thank goodness those are less organized that the originals, more often than not. Were there many, in your case?
