[6] Action for Violet/Everywhere [Fourth Wall Event]

[Blake is in his apartment minding his own business when there's a flash of light.]

When it fades, nothing seems different for a minute. All's normal and as it should be, everything in its place. After a second, it sinks in. There's something that's been out of place for months, and all of a sudden the feeling of nakedness is gone.]

[He pats his side, and there's the good, reassuring weight of his gun, right where it should be. He takes it out to give it a look over, and it's exactly as he remembers it. He puts it back and feels more himself than he has since he got to this damn place.]

[That's when he notices there's a lot of strange noises outside.]

[Blake opens the door and steps out.]

[He takes a good look at around.]

[He thinks it over.]

Nope.

[He turns around to go back inside.]

Staying the hell away from everybody sounds like a good plan right now. I don't have any robots.

[Blake's goal becomes get through this day sane and don't get set on fire. They both sound a lot more difficult than they did when he got up this morning.]

Don't make me give you a ticket for drunk robot driving.

[At least the bar looks normal enough. Blake orders shots and takes one immediately, because fuck this earth.]

[Agreeable, shellshocked, same thing.]

[shakily] I don't need any lessons from magic horsies.

[he swallows] You go to horse court. When you get horse...sued.

[His eyes widen with just a touch of held-back mania]

The problem with the juries is nobody every votes 'aye'!

[Blake puts that together after a second.]

Never seen Old Yeller, huh.

[He gives the kid a long look.]

You probably shouldn't.

Though even that's for something like a good reason. People, they kill each other for the craziest bullshit, and most of the time there's nothing extra to blame.

Do the humans who do things like that like to hurt other people?

[Hell, at this point he's almost expecting the Baronoke to show up.]

[He says, not long before downing a whole beer in practically one go.]

[Blake goes still. That unstable calm takes a sharp turn toward the cold and dangerous.]

You're saying you're in charge of all these kids running around calling themselves ninjas.

Old classic. Probably not up your alley. One of those where they first break it to you that growing up means the dog dies at the end.

[Not one of Blake's favorites as a kid. Sure it's true, but that doesn't mean you have to put a sappy soundtrack with it.]

[He looks over at Apollo to see if he's serious. He lets out an ugly, humorless laugh at the honest look on his face.]

Kid, have you ever met people?

Everyone dies eventually.

[He looks annoyed at the laugh.]

I've met humans here. Back home the only human I ever talked with was Grandpa. All of the other humans didn't want to talk. They just went around hurting everyone and trying to hurt me when I tried to stop them. I used to think that they didn't care that they were hurting the animals, but when I came here I found out that most humans can't talk to animals, so now I don't know if they even know that they're hurting anyone.

Gotcha.

[Blake ducks at the counterattack, feeling snowballs patter onto his blocking arms and one brush over the top of his head. He comes up and when he realizes there's a stupid grin on his face, he makes it go away.]

[He gets a good old scowl back and points up at the kid]

And get down from there!

[with deep, deep rue] You're telling me.

[He gestures at the bartender to keep them coming. He's got plenty of money socked away for a rainy day, and this is goddamn pouring.]

[Blake muses into the empty glass] Doesn't make any sense. One of the most down to earth people I've run into on this rock...not even from fucking Earth.

[It's an immense weight of unreality bearing down on him. He finds it's better if he approaches it one glimpse at a time.]

[Ash also gets himself another beer, though at least this one is not drunk nearly as quickly as the first.]

I'm surprised it's not the case more often. Real estate on Earth is horribly expensive. A lot of people can only afford to move there once they're well-established or if they have good connections.

[Which is quite probably not Blake's point, and he knows it.]

[He wasn't quite expecting that reaction and it made his smile waver, but he nodded as he answered.]

I am.

[Technically, anyway. He was the highest ranked here but only Obito was used to Minato being around.]

Good to know that one still holds.

Yeah, nobody else can do that. It wouldn't help as much as you think if they could. People hurt plenty of things they can talk to, too. Some of them like it better that way.

[Blake leans back on his hands on the rock, looking up at the leaves.]

You can't change the world or stop anybody from being bastards. Let your heart start bleeding and everybody'll just step on you and steal your shoes after you pass out.

You're gonna regret that, punk!

[One thing about being up there - not a lot of cover.]

[Blake flings all the snow he can reach. DEATH FROM BELOW.]

[What comes out of Blake's mouth is a low growl. His eyes are fixed on Minato as his fists curl at his sides.] You son of a bitch.

[Steadily, it rises to a shout.]

You son of a bitch!

[Blake gets up in Minato's face, cords standing out on his neck]

You're the fucking half-cocked third-world warlord sending twelve year olds out to get killed! All this goddamn time!

[Rage rises up and swamps reason without a second glance. Blake forgets about all the other bullshit going on and puts all the force in his body into shoving Minato.]

[His surprise was clearer this time, despite Blake's growing anger, but Minato was quick to quell it- digging his heels in, so to speak, after being shoved and regaining his footing, shifting into a defensive stance to better anticipate another move.

His rank and title weren't just for show, Minato was an experienced fighter and the shift into that mindset was seamless, second nature. Hope you enjoyed your one free hit on him!

Incapacitating Blake was out of the question though, no matter any further aggressive attacks, and it could often be more difficult to remain on the defense and not injure than it was to simply kill someone.]

The younger teams are not sent on dangerous missions unless necessary.

[It was just unfortunate how often it became necessary, wars that dragged on for years, pulling in each nation and wiping out their forces. By the time Minato had stepped up as Hokage the war was over, but the children were still taught to fight, if not by the village then by their family.]

It has never been a light decision and they understand the risks their ranks bring.

[And they were never really children to begin with. They couldn't be, not with the way their world worked.]

Not necessarily. [ She looks at him with concern. ] Blake, maybe you should sit down. [ She magics over a nearby chair. ]

[He has the most normal name, even if it is two last names.]

Well isn't that nice for you. Wouldn't wanna be stuck with black and white chalkraw.

[If there's one thing Carter has a gift for, it's brute force.]

[But dedicating all his effort to offense leaves him open to counterattack. He grunts as Rude's fists rattle up him too quick to block and send him reeling back]

[That just means Carter needs to hit harder. This punch has barely any control at all.]

[Blake's not slowing down anytime soon. If giant robots from nowhere aren't a call to get shitfaced, he doesn't know what is.]

Yeah, that's the problem, all these neighborhoods getting gentrified. Planets. How're the apartments on Mars?

[A worried-looking unicorn isn't helping his sanity any.]

[Blake falls back right where there happens to be a chair. He's staring at the wall.]

Got a whole hose society, huh. Horsciety.

[But then he's too busy laughing to answer properly. There may not be a lot of cover -although diving back from the edge does help him avoid the worst- but it does give him the height advantage. He won't be happy until he gets another down Blake's back!]

Horrible. No natural resources or help from earth, shortages of everything, a local illness that kills about 20% of the population, and a madman of a leader who is willing to kill his own people as a test of their worth.

[All that beer must be having an effect, because he doesn't even bother to try and make up an amusing lie. Looks like today is now Horrifying Revelations Day, sorry.]

[The fact that this guy obviously is above and beyond him in the fighting department might've sunk in if Blake could see anything but red.]

[One hit just makes him want more. Makes him lock on to him as a target for the bloody, brutal revenge he never got to have.]

Necessary?! You twisted fuck! A little kid can't understand this shit! You're getting children killed, there's no fucking excuse!

[He puts all his rage into a swing for Minato's face.]
