[6] Action for Violet/Everywhere [Fourth Wall Event]

[Blake is in his apartment minding his own business when there's a flash of light.]

When it fades, nothing seems different for a minute. All's normal and as it should be, everything in its place. After a second, it sinks in. There's something that's been out of place for months, and all of a sudden the feeling of nakedness is gone.]

[He pats his side, and there's the good, reassuring weight of his gun, right where it should be. He takes it out to give it a look over, and it's exactly as he remembers it. He puts it back and feels more himself than he has since he got to this damn place.]

[That's when he notices there's a lot of strange noises outside.]

[Blake opens the door and steps out.]

[He takes a good look at around.]

[He thinks it over.]

Nope.

[He turns around to go back inside.]

Good luck enforcing that. We can't even get people to stop killing each other.

Fuck. I didn't need to know that every bookshelf had a life story.

[He's not gonna go and feel bad about it, but it's weird.]

[In quiet, bemused amazement] The looniest of the hippies were right all along.

That doesn't answer anything! Eyeballs are supposed to stay eyeballs, that's what they do!

At least it works as a warning, just in case they're actually saying the truth.

[He'd rather know someone can set him on fire before that person actually does so, though he'd be even happier if it didn't happen at all.]

...I'm not really surprised that humans would kill each other. Is it from fighting over mates and territory?

[Humans = Animals in his mind. And yet he's drawn a reasonably accurate conclusion from that premise.]

[Blake's about to snap back that of course it isn't. Then he leans back on the rock and thinks about it.]

[For the first time in a long, long time, his brain's been smacked hard enough to knock it out of its calcified habits and make him see things differently. It's an uneasy feeling.]

You know what? It is, isn't it.

[Technically, he totally is. At least, in the middle of a storm like it so helpfully is right now. But he doesn't dodge. Instead, he twists his staff sideways, using it to break the snowballs in the air. He is nice enough not to fire anything back, at least.]

Really? That's all you've got? C'mon, Grumpy!

They're still eyes! They're just... special eyes, that's all. [He was studying him for signs of joking, but was interested to see he saw none.]

Yeah, the thing that makes you stick to the ground. [jabs his finger at him] It's a law!

[Half of that is leprechaun gibberish, but Blake picks out the gist.]

Nobody just grows horns out of their head.

[Good, at least somebody's doing what Blake says for once.]

[He's happy about that for about two seconds.]

[He throws his arm up in front of his face] Jesus Christ!

[When the wind dies down and he looks, it looks like the place has been swept through by a hurricane.]

What the hell did you do?!

[Jin raises an eyebrow.]

Now who ever heard o' the shinobi obeyin' no laws? That's about th' silliest thing I ever heard, it is!

And as fer me horn, I wouldn'a grown it fer any real reason, if it hadn'a been there already! Bet I wasn't born with it, but so long as I can remember it's been there, and I can remember pretty far!

[When the wind dies down, he's still floating there, grinning, his ears twitching cheerfully.]

I cleaned the place up a bit! Picked it up neat and tidy like ye said!

[One must wonder how much of this Blake will remember after 4th wall is over.]

Lots of animals fight over things like that. Pokémon and humans are the only kinds of animals that I know about who fight for other reasons.

[Rude easily blocks the attack with his right arm. Carter's fist makes contact, but Rude's arm doesn't even budge one inch. It's a testament to all his years of training and fighting.

Carter's different. Rude could tell the instant Carter's knuckles connected with his arm. There's some strength there, that's for certain, but it was raw. Untrained. It felt slightly hesitant, almost as if Carter was holding back. Rude's guess was that Carter was testing the waters, seeing how much Rude could take and dish back and whether he was out of his league.

Bad news for you buddy; you've probably hit the latter.

Rude draws back slightly and keeps his arms up, ready to block a little more. He wants to see what Carter can do as he stands at the moment; there may be potential because the blow definitely had some force in it.]

[He hopes not much.]

[This is firmer ground for him. Something he knows.]

Mates and territory. People are always killing each other over that kind of thing. Sex and money. Then every once in a while somebody thinks up something new and different out of the goddamn blue.

Hey. If plants and animals can think, can they be crazy, too?

Cheating punk! No fair using a stick!

[Now Blake's gonna have to throw a whole lot more]

Special eyes need contact lenses, they don't...change.

[You have him pretty spooked, kid.]

If Obbytoe's a ghost, he's a real chatty and solid one.

There's nobody who laws don't apply to, asshole. [Besides Blake, when he feels like it.]

So you're a fuckin' mutant.

[All this crazy bullshit is getting Blake scared, and nothing covers that better than anger.]

A tornado isn't tidy!

And people can't make fucking tornadoes happen!

[With the first movement, it's clear Rude has a lot of practice at this. That block is old habit.]

[Blake doesn't have a lot of experience with any of that martial arts crap. Fights he's in are usually short, brutal brawls or one-sided beatings.]

[No dicking around, then.]

[He puts a lot more force into the next right hook]

[Alright, now this is something more like it. Rude lets out a grunt, but takes the hit with his arm anyway just to test Carter. Definitely the man's got some potential. He doesn't have finesse and Carter swings too wide and too slow, but those are things that can be improved.

Time for a counter-attack.

Following the right hook Rude waits for another attack, feinting a block similar to the previous ones. Only this time Rude takes a bit more initiative; rather than merely blocking, he follows up the block with a forceful push to knock Carter's arm away roughly and counter-attack with a quick left jab to Carter's side. It's definitely a balanced hit; nothing too forceful but nothing held back. Rude needs to know how much the guy can take.]

I've never met a crazy plant or animal, but Grandpa told me that there's a kind of disease that mammals can get that makes them attack anyone who they see and makes them afraid of water. I've never met any animals with that disease though.

[Way to butcher a name there Blake.]

Obito. And I'm not the only one with eyes that do things, my clan just has this kind.

[It's his own fault for not being named Joe or something pronouncable.]

Eyes aren't supposed to do things!

[Warily, terribly curious despite himself]

What do they do?

[Carter is satisfied with the solid hit. This guy's in good shape, but that doesn't make him invincible.]

[Blake sees him move and realizes it's a feint right after he falls for it hook, line, and sinker]

[His guard is knocked open and before he can quite tell what happened there's a smack of pain across his ribs]

Fuck!

[He's had worse, but now he's angry]

[He whirls and throws a lot more of his weight into a swing for the Rude's face]

[Too close to dodge, Rude brings up his right arm to match the incoming blow.

He hadn't expected that much power behind that punch; rather than block, he should've attempted a grapple. An eyebrow twitches with irritation when he realises that he underestimated the force that Carter was bringing with him, and it's probably cost him at least a bruise.

But it's always important to keep one's cool. Keeping his emotions under check, he takes advantage again of the Carter's wider swing to deliver a succession of quick punches that start at Carter's torso and ends with a stronger hit to the chest.]

[Fine, fine, he'll be relatively good and actually dodge like a normal person. One even manages to tag him, although he looks far from upset about it as he gathers and throws a few of his own.]

It's not cheating! All's fair in war and snowballs!

[He still has the height advantage up here on the roof, anyway, and he isn't giving that up for anything. He's not THAT nice.]

[You're the one with the weird name Blake, be real here.]

I can track movements before they're completed and see chakra in full color even when it's not intense. There's more, but that's enough.

[Was it really?

But he didn't see the need in pushing the subject much more. At least Blake seemed calmer now.]

Ah... the leader of our village is called the "Hokage". The ninja's actions are still their own, but if they're bothering anyone it reflects poorly on all of us, I think.

[Not that he expected the Konoha kids to run wild and be assholes.]
